The required location(s) of signage will vary depending on the project boundary; but for some strategies, especially when using the Commercial Interior scorecard, signage is required to be located externally to the tenant space(s) pursuing certification. Below are a few examples of signage types and their location requirements:
- Tobacco and smoke free signage is to be permanently placed at all building entrances. This includes entrances from parking areas and any on-site outdoor areas.
- Hand washing signage must be permanently placed and located in every bathroom within the project boundary.
- Healthy food education signage must be located within all common break rooms within the project boundary when a prepared food area that only serves regular occupants is not available.
- Signage using motivational language to promote stair use must be located at all elevator call areas within the project boundary.
Further explanation on placement requirements for permanent signage can be found in the strategy requirements section of the Fitwel scorecards, or within the digital scorecard on the Fitwel Platform.
