04. Entrances and Ground Floor - Local Amenities Display

Provide a permanent display advertising local amenities

Rationale: Public displays listing local amenities are useful for wayfinding and encourage exploration of the surrounding area, contributing to increased walking, heightened accessibility, and stronger connections within the community.

Requirements

Demonstrate compliance with one of the options below:

Option 1 - Local Amenities Display - (Full Credit):

Provide a display promoting local amenities that demonstrate compliance with all of the following requirements:

Low-Rise Residential with shared interior spaces (LR+), Low-Rise Residential with no shared interior spaces (LR)

1. Permanently mount the display on structures such as walls, doors, poles, or stands within one of the following locations:
   • outdoors, within 100 feet or 30 meters of a main building entrance of each building.
   • indoors, on the floor of a main building entrance of each building in a circulation path that is visible by all building occupants.

   • within 300 feet or 100 meters of a high traffic corridor within the project that is visible by all occupants.

     High-traffic corridors may include but are not limited to the following: 

     • a pedestrian intersection
     • park or plaza(s)   
     • an amenities building or clubhouse
2. Ensure each display includes distances to a minimum of two of the following local amenities that are located within a 1/2-mile or 800-meter walking route of a main building entrance of each building within the project:
   • areas of commerce (such as retail corridors, restaurants, or markets)
   • civic and/or institutional buildings (such as libraries, schools, or community centers)
   • commercial buildings (such as office buildings or other places of employment)
   • public outdoor open spaces (such as parks, plazas, pedestrian corridors or other types of public open spaces)
   • cultural destinations (such as religious centers, museums, or other types of cultural centers).

Option 2 - Digital Amenities Information - (Partial Credit):

Promote local amenities through a digital platform that demonstrates compliance with all of the following requirements:

Low-Rise Residential with shared interior spaces (LR+), Low-Rise Residential with no shared interior spaces (LR)

1. Provide information advertising local amenities through one of the following:
   • a building or project website
   • a building or project-specific digital application.
2. Ensure that the local amenities information includes distances to a minimum of two of the following local amenities that are located within a 1/2-mile or 800-meter walking route of a main building entrance of each building within the project:
   • areas of commerce (such as retail corridors, restaurants, or markets)
   • civic and/or institutional buildings (such as libraries, schools, or community centers)
   • commercial buildings (such as office buildings or other places of employment)
   • public outdoor open spaces (such as parks, plazas, pedestrian corridors or other types of public open spaces)
   • cultural destinations (such as religious centers, museums, or other types of cultural centers).
3. Share access to the digital platform with all residents through one of the following:
   • regular newsletter or email blast
   • tenant manual
   • signage or QR code placed in a location visible to all occupants.

Option 1: 

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload an annotated plan(s) showing the proposed location of each display.
• Requirement 2:
  • Upload design drawings showing how each display will detail:
    • the qualifying amenities
    • the walking distances between each amenity and a main building entrance of the farthest building within the required distance.

Option 2: 

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload a description of the digital resource that will be used to advertise local amenities.
  • Upload a screenshot or photograph(s) of the digital resource that will be used to advertise local amenities.
• Requirement 2:
  • Upload design drawings showing the information that will be included in the digital resource, detailing:
    • the qualifying amenities
    • the distances between each amenity and a main building entrance of the farthest building within the required distance.
• Requirement 3:
  • Checkbox to certify that digital amenities information will be shared with all residential occupants through one of the following (select all that apply, one minimum):
    • regular newsletter or email blast
    • tenant manual
    • signage or QR code placed in a location visible to all occupants.

Built Pathway (LR+, LR)

Option 1: 

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload annotated photographs showing the displays within the required locations.
  • Upload an annotated plan(s) showing the location of each display within one of the required locations.
• Requirement 2:
  • Upload annotated photographs showing how each display details:
    • the qualifying amenities
    • the walking distances between each amenity a main building entrance of the farthest building within the required distance.  

Option 2: 

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload a description of the digital resource that is used to advertise local amenities.
  • Upload a screenshot or photograph(s) of the digital resource that is used to advertise local amenities.

  • Upload screenshots or photographs showing the information that is included in the digital resource, detailing:
    • the qualifying amenities
    • the distances between each amenity and a main building entrance of the farthest building within the required distance.
