Provide occupants with ergonomic workstations

Rationale: Providing access to adjustable and ergonomic accommodations accompanied by occupant education promotes physical activity and alleviates musculoskeletal disorders, which reduces levels of physical and psychological workplace stress.

Requirements

Demonstrate compliance with one of the options below:

Option 1 - Ergonomic Workstations (Full Credit):

Demonstrate compliance with all of the following requirements:

 

Multi-Tenant Whole Building (with on-site management)

1. Provide a minimum of three qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies at 51% of regularly occupied workstations within building management spaces.

 

Qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies may include but are not limited to the following:

• convertible sit-stand desks
• chairs with lumbar support
• adjustable seats
• adjustable mouse and keyboards
• height-, angle-, and position-adjustable computer monitors
• workstation footrests
• fatigue standing mats.

 

2. Provide personal access to qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies free of charge upon request for all full- and part-time employees and staff within building owner/management spaces.

 

Qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies may include but are not limited to the following:

• convertible sit-stand desks
• chairs with lumbar support
• adjustable seats
• adjustable mouse and keyboards
• height-, angle-, and position-adjustable computer monitors
• workstation footrests
• fatigue standing mats..

 

3. Provide educational material specifying the health benefits of ergonomic workstations to all building occupants through a minimum of one of the following methods:

• a digital platform, such as a website, digital application, or display screen in common areas
• communication material, such as notification emails or newsletters.

Multi-Tenant Whole Building (no on-site management)

 

1. Provide a minimum of one shared workstation that includes three qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies within each tenant space in the building.

 

Qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies may include but are not limited to the following:

• convertible sit-stand desks
• chairs with lumbar support
• adjustable seats
• adjustable mouse and keyboards
• height-, angle-, and position-adjustable computer monitors
• workstation footrests
• fatigue standing mats.

 

  2. Provide educational material specifying the health benefits of ergonomic workstations to all building occupants through a minimum of one of the following methods:

• a digital platform, such as a website, digital application, or display screen in common areas

Single-Tenant, Commercial Interior

Qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies may include but are not limited to the following:

• adjustable mouse and keyboards
• height-, angle-, and position-adjustable computer monitors
• workstation footrests
• fatigue standing mats.

 

2. Ensure the shared ergonomic workstation(s) can be reserved for use free of charge by all full- and part-time employees and staff within building management spaces through one of the following:

• online booking system
• email reservation
• sign-up sheet.

 

3. Provide access to personal qualifying ergonomic workstation supplies free of charge upon request for all full- and part-time employee occupants within building owner/management spaces.

 

4. Provide educational material specifying the health benefits of ergonomic workstations with all building occupants through a minimum of one of the following methods:
