Rationale: Accessible and clear signage decreases anxiety associated with wayfinding and supports those with impaired comprehension, promoting walkability and exercise in both indoor and outdoor settings for all.
Requirements
Demonstrate compliance with the below:
Wayfinding in Trafficked Areas (Full Credit):
Demonstrate compliance with all of the following requirements:
Multi-Tenant Base Building (no on-site management), Multi-Tenant Base Building (with on-site management)
- Provide wayfinding that is posted in frequently trafficked areas under the control of building management.
Qualifying frequently trafficked areas may include but are not limited to the following:
corridors
- within or adjacent to stairs
- elevator call areas
- lobbies.
- Provide directional information for all of the following, as applicable:
- common spaces, such as fitness and exercise rooms, storage spaces, event spaces, lactation rooms, break areas, or other spaces designated for shared activity
- bathrooms
- kitchens.
- Implement a minimum of two of the following wayfinding practices:
- pictograms
- color-coding
- maps
- directional language or diagrams.
Single-Tenant
- Provide wayfinding that is posted in frequently trafficked areas under the control of building management.
Qualifying frequently trafficked areas may include but are not limited to the following:
- corridors
- within or adjacent to stairs
- elevator call areas
- lobbies.
2. Provide directional information for all of the following, as applicable:
- common spaces, such as fitness and exercise rooms, storage spaces, event spaces, lactation rooms, break areas, or other spaces designated for shared activity

Commercial Interior
- Provide wayfinding that is posted in frequently trafficked areas in spaces under the control of tenants.
Qualifying frequently trafficked areas may include but are not limited to the following:

- within or adjacent to stairs
- elevator call areas
- lobbies.
