Implement stormwater management practices

Rationale: Implementing practices to manage the quality and quantity of stormwater runoff prevents pollution, erosion, and flooding, mitigating risk of injury, infection and illness from contaminated drinking water; stormwater management also prevents biodiversity loss, which supports exposure to diverse microbiota, contributing to a strengthened immune system.

Requirements

Demonstrate compliance with the option below:

Stormwater Management Plan (Full Credit):

Demonstrate compliance with all of the following requirements:

Low-Rise Residential with shared interior spaces (LR+), Low-Rise Residential with no shared interior spaces (LR)

1. Provide a minimum of one qualifying stormwater infrastructure elements.

   Qualifying stormwater infrastructure elements may include but are not limited to the following:

   • retention ponds
   • permeable pavement
   • green roofs
   • blue roofs
   • rain gardens
   • bioswales
   • cisterns.
2. Ensure that the stormwater infrastructure manages all of the following, as applicable:
   • controls stormwater runoff
   • treats stormwater runoff from the site prior to entering local water sources
   • treats stormwater separately from sewer water
   • protect areas where chemicals and hazardous waste are stored during high precipitation events
   • prevents oil, gas, and grease from entering sewer outflow and stormwater runoff.

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload an annotated plan(s) detailing the planned location of the qualifying stormwater management infrastructure that will be implemented within the project.
• Requirement 2:
  • Upload design drawings detailing how the provided stormwater infrastructure will manage all of the listed requirements.      

Built Pathway (LR+, LR)

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload an annotated plan(s) detailing the location of the qualifying stormwater management infrastructure that is implemented within the project.   
  • Upload annotated photographs showing each unique piece of stormwater infrastructure.      
• Requirement 2:
  • Upload design drawings or photographs detailing how the provided stormwater infrastructure manages all of the listed requirements.
