Provide enhanced transit stops

Rationale: Enhancing the comfort and safety of nearby transit stops through seating and shelters encourages the use of active transportation, supporting increased rates of physical activity, reduced congestion and lower pollution, contributing to reduced risk of chronic conditions.

For buildings with multiple entrances, identify a main building entrance that is used to access a common area within the building such as a lobby, reception area, or main circulation pathway.

Demonstrate compliance with the option below:

Enhanced Transit Stops (Full Credit):

Demonstrate compliance with all the following requirements:

Low-Rise Residential with shared interior spaces (LR+), Low-Rise Residential with no shared interior spaces (LR)

1. Include a minimum of one enhanced transit or shuttle stop that is located within a 1/2-mile or 800-meter walking distance of a main building entrance of each building within the project.
2. Municipal transit stops may be used to meet this strategy.
3. Incorporate a minimum of two of the following elements:
   • shading/cover from the elements
   • seating
   • lighting
   • real-time transportation information.

Compliance Documentation

Design Pathway (LR+, LR)

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload an annotated plan showing the distance between the transit stop and a main building entrance of the furthest building within the required distance.       
• Requirement 2:
  • Upload design drawings or an annotated photograph showing the planned or existing transit stop amenities.       
  • Checkbox to certify that the transit stop will include the following elements (minimum two):    
    • shading/cover from the elements
    • seating
    • lighting
    • real-time transportation information.

Built Pathway (LR+, LR)

• Requirement 1:
  • Upload an annotated plan showing the distance between the transit stop and a main building entrance of the furthest building within the required distance.
