Applicability
A policy is a plan of action adopted or pursued by an entity (the building management, owner, or tenant company) at the project or the project building.
General Requirements
- All policies must be provided on company letterhead (Design Pathway) or on company letterhead and with the date of institution/ implementation (Built Pathway).
Information Checklist
- Company letterhead.
- For the Built Pathway: The date of institution/implementation.
- All criteria detailed in the Strategy Requirements on the Platform and/or in the Fitwel standard copy, found at https://www.fitwel.org/fitwel-standards.
Guidance and Insights
- Policies may be in any language, provided they include notes with translations to English. Please review this article explaining how to submit documentation with English translations.
- Official statements confirming that a policy is or will be adopted/implemented cannot be accepted in place of a qualifying official policy.
- All policies relevant to the project can be compiled into one document if all criteria are met for each policy and the company letterhead and date(s) are included.
- Other documentation types like plans, protocols, and programs are very similar to policies. Because of the name of the documents, they are not required to include company letterhead or implementation dates at this time (For example, the IPM Plan, the cleaning protocols, the Stakeholder Collaboration Process, and the Water Management Program). Please note that guidance for many of these strategies is also found at https://www.fitwel.org/fitwel-standards.
- For the MTBB and MTWB scorecards: Many policies are required to be shared with tenants through a tenant manual or relevant lease contract (or through other relevant methods like an organization intranet or website). The intent is to confirm that full versions of the qualifying policies are shared with all tenants, who must also abide by the policy.
- For the CI scorecard: Please note that Commercial Interior scorecard projects may require some policies to be implemented building-wide and allow others to be implemented within the project space only.
Sample
- This is a sample of documentation for a project pursuing the Design pathway. If the project is pursuing the Built pathway, include a date on document.
