Rationale: Ensuring local infrastructure includes vital civic resources — such as libraries, schools, recreational areas, shops and community centers — builds social capital and mutual trust among community members, which encourages physical activity and benefits psychological health.
Requirements
Demonstrate compliance with the below:
Civic Resource (Full Credit):
To achieve full credit, demonstrate compliance with the following requirement:
- Include a minimum of one of the following civic resources within the project boundary or within a 1/2-mile or 800-meter walking distance of the project boundary:
- public school
- public library
- post office
- community center
- recreation center
- or other public, civic asset.
- Ensure the civic resource is accessible free of charge to all occupants within the project.
