07. Dwelling Units - Operable Windows in Dwelling Units

Provide operable windows in all dwelling units

Rationale: Operable windows in occupied areas increase exposure to daylight and natural fresh air on demand — improving indoor air quality which contributes to enhanced sleep quality and reduced risk of airborne disease transmission.

Requirements

Demonstrate compliance with the below:

Operable Windows in Dwelling Units (Full Credit):

Demonstrate compliance with all of the following requirements:

1. Include a minimum of one operable window within each dwelling unit.

In dwelling units where no operable windows are provided, exterior-facing doors can be used to comply with the strategy.

2. Ensure that operable windows are able to be operated by residential occupants.
