Rationale: Lead control measures protect occupants from toxic effects of lead exposure and lead poisoning which can include cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairments, nervous system impairments, kidney disease, and behavioral issues.

Requirements
Demonstrate compliance with one of the options below:
Option 1 - Lead Control Measures (Full Credit):
Demonstrate compliance with all the following requirements:
Multi-Tenant Retail
- Implement lead control measures throughout the building(s) that include one of the following:
- removal
- encapsulation
- enclosure
- repair
- clean up.
- Ensure that the identified control measures are performed by a certified professional.
- Confirm that the identified control measures are required for future renovations within the building.
- Confirm that the control measures are implemented in all areas of the building.
Retail
- Implement lead control measures that include one of the following:
- removal
- encapsulation
- enclosure
- repair
- clean up.
- Ensure that the identified control measures are performed by a certified professional.
- Confirm that the identified control measures are required for future renovations within the building.
- Confirm that the control measures are implemented in all areas of the building.
Note that tenants must confirm the building is in compliance with these requirements.
Option 2 - Lead-Free Construction (Full Credit):
Demonstrate compliance with the following:
Multi-Tenant Retail, Retail
- Ensure that the building(s) construction began or will begin after the use of lead and lead-containing paint in construction products was banned in the country or region where building is located.

- Upload legal documentation (such as a certificate or remediation report submitted to authorities) showing the lead control measure that have been or will be implemented within the building(s).

- Removal
- Encapsulation
- Enclosure
- Repair
- Clean up.
- Check box to certify that the identified control measures have been or will be performed by a certified professional.
- Check box to certify that the identified control measures are or required for future renovations within the building(s).'
