Rationale: Nearby, free, and accessible short-term bicycle parking with adequate capacity results in improved air quality from fewer automobiles on the road, as well as promotes the use of bicycles for transportation and recreation, which is associated with a lowered risk of chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.

Multi-Tenant Retail

1. Provide short-term bicycle parking that is accessible free of charge to the public.
2. Provide the number of short-term bicycle parking based on the below:
   • For projects that meet the requirements of the "Dedicated Bicycle Parking" strategy, provide short-term bicycle parking equivalent to 1% of the number of occupants within the building(s).
   • For all other projects, provide short-term bicycle parking equivalent to 3.5% of the number of occupants within the building(s).
3. Locate the short-term bicycle parking either within the building(s) or within 1/4 mile or 400 meters walking route of a main building entrance(s).

Retail

1. Provide short-term bicycle parking that is accessible free of charge to the public.
2. Provide the number of short-term bicycle parking based on the below:
   • For projects that meet the requirements of the "Dedicated Bicycle Parking" strategy, provide short-term bicycle parking equivalent to 1% of the number of occupants within the building.
