Provide occupants access to fresh produce

Rationale: Programs that make fresh produce immediately available and free of charge to occupants significantly increase occupant consumption of fruits and vegetables and contribute to a balanced diet, which is associated with lowered risk of chronic diet-related diseases.

Requirements

Demonstrate compliance with one of the options below:

Option 1 - Fresh Produce Free of Charge (Full Credit):

To achieve full credit, demonstrate compliance with all of the following requirements:

Multi-Tenant Whole Building (no on-site management), Multi-Tenant Whole Building (with on-site management)

1. Provide fresh produce free of charge to all building occupants.
2. Place produce in a common area.
3. Ensure availability of the qualifying produce a minimum of once per week.

Single-Tenant

1. Provide fresh produce free of charge to all full- and part-time employees and staff.
2. Place produce in a common area.
3. Ensure availability of the qualifying produce a minimum of once per week.

Commercial Interior

1. Provide fresh produce free of charge to all full- and part-time employees and staff within tenant space.
2. Place produce in a common area.
3. Ensure availability of the qualifying produce a minimum of once per week.

Option 2 - Fresh Produce for Purchase (Partial Credit):

The project may achieve partial credit by demonstrating compliance with all of the following requirements:

Multi-Tenant Whole Building (no on-site management), Multi-Tenant Whole Building (with on-site management)

1. Provide fresh produce that is available for purchase to all building occupants.
2. Place produce in a common area.
3. Ensure that the qualifying produce selection is restocked weekly.

Single-Tenant
